Madrid, Spain

Hi it's Jan with a blog entry about Madrid because Erin fell asleep! What an amazing city with way too many people! The buildings are all so beautiful downtown and so clean. I don't think there is dust in Madrid. The ceramic tiling is everywhere and color and .... people! The cars drive crazy and we were warned over and over about thieves and pick-pockets! We went to the bull fighting arena and thankfully didn't see a bull fight! The postcards of them are shockingly graphic. It eventually cooled off and apparently gets down to -15 in the winter months and +50 something in the summer! The tour seems super flexible so I'm liking that. Erin is great and insists on standing right beside the guide so she doesn't miss anything while her mom (that's me) lags behind at the back zoning out!

Erin-y! Your adventure looks as great as I knew it would be. I believe I share a birthday with Mozart so he's gotta be awesome. Cat update for the owner: They are totally relaxed and like to hang out in the shower (lost Chess in there yesterday). I'm on a first name basis with the girl in the cat food aisle at Pet Smart. I'm having trouble working out exactly how much food the cat guests are consuming (except I know it's alot). xoxo Deeeeed

Wow! What a beautiful city & you have so many statistics in that 10-yr. old head!
Just a little statistic from Regina--we had severe thunderstorm/tornado warnings this evening & it's been pouring for a couple of hours. No tornados here, thank goodness, but lots of thunder & lightening so Finigan has been shaking & drooling for quite some time. He's calming down now so I guess that means the storm is abating.
Happy travels as you move on to Portugal.

Just got back from taking Sarah for lunch to celebrate her final day at Luther. She's pretty excited about being all done high school.
Did you check out the comment after your picture of you scootering through the fountains, in the rain? It's definitely worth having a look at.
Enjoy Portugal!

We love reading your blog! Ms. Desjarlais wishes she could have fit in your suitcase and traveled through Europe! Everything looks stunning! We miss you! We have 2 and a half days left!

We had a huge storm and tornado watch on Monday and the basement at school flooded during the Grade 8 Farewell. The mosquitoes are as big as baseballs!
